Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers to the questions we get most often. If yours is not here, the guides go deeper on trading itself, and the contact form reaches a person.
The basics
What is P2Trades?
P2Trades is a free peer-to-peer platform for trading Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) skins. Players list items from their Steam inventory and trade directly with each other using Steam trade offers, without a middleman.
Does P2Trades charge fees?
No. P2Trades charges no listing fees and no commission. Trades happen directly between users through Steam, so you keep the full value of your items.
How do I trade CS2 skins on P2Trades?
Sign in with your Steam account, save your Steam trade offer link, then create a listing choosing which items you offer and which items you want. Other users browse listings and either send you a Steam trade offer directly or make an offer on the listing with skins from their own inventory — you accept the one you like and complete it on Steam.
How do I know if a trader is trustworthy?
Every profile and listing on P2Trades shows Steam account signals — account age, Steam level, and any VAC, game or trade bans — plus the number of trades the user has completed on P2Trades. Always double-check the items inside the Steam trade window before accepting.
Is P2Trades safe?
P2Trades never holds your items. Every trade is completed through Steam's own trade offer system, so your skins stay in your Steam inventory until you accept a trade.
Listings and offers
What is the difference between a listing and an offer?
A listing is your advert: the items you are giving and what you want back. An offer is another trader's response to it, built from items in their own Steam inventory. You can accept, decline or ignore offers; accepting one does not move any items by itself. It tells both of you to complete the swap in Steam.
How long does a listing stay up?
Listings stay active for 45 days and then retire automatically. You can bump a listing back to the top of the feed once every 24 hours, or every 8 hours with Premium. Mark a listing as traded as soon as the Steam trade completes so other traders stop sending offers.
Why does my listing show a value that is different from what I paid?
Item values on cards are reference prices refreshed daily from Buff163 listing data. They move with the market and they are not a quote. A quick way to sanity check a swap is our trade calculator, which uses the same numbers on both sides.
Can I list items that are on a trade hold?
Yes, but the card will show the hold. Items bought on the Steam Market or received from a trade carry a seven-day hold before they can move again. Most traders will wait; some will not. Our trade hold guide explains how to plan around it.
Safety
Can P2Trades take my items?
No. We never ask for your Steam password, your API key, or a mobile authenticator code, and the site has no bot inventory to deposit into. Every trade is a normal Steam trade offer between two accounts. If someone claiming to be from P2Trades asks for any of those things, it is a scam.
What do the trust badges on a profile mean?
They are read from the trader's public Steam profile: account age, Steam level and whether Steam reports a VAC, game or trade ban. We add the number of trades the account has completed through P2Trades. None of this guarantees an honest trader, but a brand-new, level-0 account asking for your knife first is a pattern worth noticing.
The other trader wants to use a middleman. Is that safe?
Almost never. Middleman offers are the single most common scam in CS2 trading. A direct Steam trade offer already shows both sides of the swap in one window and moves both sets of items at once, so there is nothing for a middleman to add. Read our scam guide before agreeing to anything that involves handing items to a third person.
I was scammed. What can P2Trades do?
We can remove the account and its listings from the platform; we cannot reverse a Steam trade, and neither can anyone else. Report the account to Steam Support with the trade offer ID, then contact us with the same details so we can act on our side.
Prices and data
Where do the prices on the site come from?
From a daily public dump of Buff163 listings, the largest liquid CS2 market. We store one reference price per item and wear, and one per phase for Doppler and Gamma Doppler knives. Prices update once a day, so a sudden move on the Steam Market can take up to a day to appear here.
Why is the same skin sometimes ten times the price of another copy?
Because the market name hides three numbers that matter: the float value (wear), the pattern index and, for some knives, the phase. A 0.01 float Factory New copy and a 0.06 one share a name and a wear tier and can be worth very different amounts. Our guides on float value and the pattern index cover this in detail.
How does the site read the float value of my items?
Steam's inventory API exposes the wear and pattern data for items in your own inventory. We decode it when you load your inventory and show the exact float on each card, so you do not have to paste inspect links into another tool.
Account and Premium
Do I need an account to browse?
No. Listings, skin pages, the price database and every guide are public. You only need to sign in with Steam to create a listing, make an offer or follow a skin.
What does Premium include?
Bumps every 8 hours instead of 24, glowing listing cards in the feed, a golden avatar frame and a Premium badge next to your name. It does not change what you see, what you pay in fees (nothing) or how trades settle. Details are on the Premium page.
How do I delete my account?
Send us a message from the contact form using the Steam account you want removed and we will delete the account, its listings and its offers. Anything already completed inside Steam is, of course, outside our reach.
Why is there no email on my profile?
Steam sign-in does not share your email with us. You can add one on your profile; Premium members then get watchlist and demand alerts delivered to it. Without an email, notifications appear only in the bell icon while you are logged in.
