CS2 Market Report: 4 to 6 September 2026
The short version
This is the first of our weekly reports, and it covers three days rather than seven: our daily price history began on 4 September, so this is the window we have. From next week the report runs Saturday to Saturday.
The market did nothing. Across the 219 skins we track, the median change over the three days was zero, and every category except SMGs had a median of zero too. That is not a quiet market by accident: early September sits between the summer sale sell-off and the autumn update season, with no case release, no Major and no patch in the window. When nothing pushes, prices sit still.

Where the small moves were
Pistols were the only category with more risers than fallers, eleven against nine, and the risers were mostly Field-Tested copies of popular budget skins: the P250 Asiimov, the P250 Cartel, the Desert Eagle Code Red and the Desert Eagle Printstream all added two to four percent. Moves of that size on ten and forty dollar items are within a normal week of noise. We note them because they share a direction, not because any one of them means anything.
SMGs leaned the other way. None of the twelve tracked SMG items rose and six fell, led by the MP7 Nemesis in Factory New, which lost about ten percent, and the MP7 Fade in Factory New, down six. Both are thin markets where a couple of listings appearing or disappearing moves the reference price; neither is a trend yet. Watch whether the Nemesis recovers next week before reading anything into it.
Rifles were flat with a slight downward lean, fourteen fallers to six risers, but the individual moves were small: the AK-47 Redline in Well-Worn slipped under four percent and the AK-47 Nightwish in Factory New lost three. The one rifle move worth a second look is the M4A4 The Emperor in Factory New, down around five and a half percent from a high base. Factory New copies of illustrated M4A4s are sensitive to a single large seller, so we would want to see a second week before calling it a repricing.
Knives and gloves
Gloves were as flat as a category can be: twenty-three pairs tracked, one up, three down, nothing beyond a couple of percent. That is normal. Glove prices move on float and on rare events, not on a quiet week.
Knives showed one large number that needs explaining rather than trading on. The Flip Knife Gamma Doppler in Minimal Wear shows a fall of almost nine percent, but the reference price for a Doppler name follows the cheapest phase on offer at the time of the snapshot. A swing like this is usually the cheapest listing changing from one phase to another, not the knife losing value. Our Doppler guide explains the phase system and lists per-phase prices, which are the numbers to use for an actual trade.
The one knife gain of note, the Talon Knife Crimson Web in Minimal Wear at close to four percent, is a real market: Crimson Web knives in clean wears are scarce and a single good copy listing or selling shows up in the reference price. Again, one week is not a trend.
What we are watching
Three things for the coming week. First, whether the SMG lean continues or reverses; if six of twelve fall again, that is a category moving, not noise. Second, the MP7 Nemesis, as the largest single move in the window. Third, anything Valve ships: an update in the next week would make every number in this report obsolete overnight, as our guide on what moves skin prices explains.
For traders the practical takeaway is simple. A flat week is a good week to trade item for item, because reference prices on both sides of the swap are stable and neither party is guessing. Price with the daily numbers on the skin pages, not with last month's memory of them.
Method
Prices are Buff163 reference prices in USD, snapshotted once a day. The tables cover the skins in our curated database, normal variants only, with a starting price of at least five dollars; each family appears once, by its largest move. Doppler and Gamma Doppler names follow the cheapest phase on offer, so use the per-phase prices in the Doppler guide for real trades. All reports are listed on the market report index; the forces behind the moves are covered in what moves CS2 skin prices.
